About Mrs. Mounts
I am a graduate of Morningside College with a major in mathematics and a minor in business education.  I also have a coaching endorsement and have coached basketball, softball, and volleyball in the past. I taught one year in Underwood, IA, then in the Jones County School District in Murdo, SD, for nine years and began teaching at East Middle School in 1999.  My husband Mike teaches science at East High and we have two children Melissa and Wyatt.  My interests include the TI-73 graphing calculator, finding neat math Internet sites, and the sport of volleyball.

Grading

HOMEWORK is an important and valuable aid in reinforcing what has been taught in class. It is
assigned daily and due the following day at the beginning of class. Homework is done in pencil and is
graded for completion and accuracy.  It is worth 40 percent

QUIZZES are tools to help the student and teacher be aware of their progress and understanding. They
are given weekly and are always announced.
TESTS are given at the end of each unit.  Quizzes and Tests are worth 50 percent

PARTICIPATION is given to each student at the end of each quarter. It is worth 10 percent and is based on completing in class activities such as
problem of the day, 5-minute check, and notes.

GRADING SCALE
A student's grade is determined by total percent accumulated by homework, quizzes, tests, citizenship grades. This is then converted into a percentage.
99-100%-A+
95-98%-A
93-94%-A-
91-92%-B+
88-90%-B
86-87%-B-
84-85%-C+
81-83%-C
78-80%-C-
76-77%-D+
72-75%-D
69-71%-D-
